Matt Farah of TheSmokingTire.com is always up for a bit of hoonage so when we heard that he was going to max out a new 2010 Volkswagen Touareg TDI at the El Mirage dry lake bed in the Mojave desert we were all ears. The 2010 Touareg TDI is powered by a big 6-cylinder DOHC turbo diesel that pumps out 225 hp and 406 lb-ft tq. and comes in at around $44,000. It’s big, gets decent mileage (18 mpg city / 25 mpg hwy) and has good manners both on and off-road, but that’s not why we’re here. The main goal that Mr. Farah is trying to show us here is how fast this thing really is. So lets all just sit back now and watch Matt take this big 5,300 lb. VW up to speed.
